In our previous blogs we gave ample space to the parties and preparations of the main Christmas-themed celebrations: however, in addition to the above events (San Nicolò Fair, Christmas markets etc.), the city of Trieste offers many other events and initiatives for those who are always looking for new stimuli. Below, for example, we will focus on an exhibition set up in honor of one of the most authoritative voices of contemporary photography.

Steve McCurry is a hugely successful photographer, born in 1950 in Philadelphia, USA. In his long and successful career he has been active in the fields of urban photography, war photography and portrait: it is precisely a portrait of his most famous photograph, namely the Afghan Girl, Awarded as the most recognized shot in the entire history of National Geographic magazine.

Until 4 May 2025 the Salone degli Incanti of Trieste will host the exhibition  “Steve McCurry. Sguardi sul mondo”. The exhibition will feature more than 150 images – some of which are unpublished – that will offer visitors a kind of peregrinatio in stabilised, an imaginary “journey” in places, in the cultures and faces captured by the American photographer around the world from India to Afghanistan, from Myanmar to Africa via China, Cambodia and Japan.

The fascinating route set up by the organizers deliberately mixes different themes and places, encouraging visitors to explore freely and immerse themselves in McCurry’s personal universe.

The exhibition is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday with hours 10-18 (last entry 17 hours); on Saturday, Sunday and holidays, instead, the time will be 10-19 (last entry 18 hours). On 25 December the Salone degli Incanti will be closed. As for the entrance tickets, below are the prices:
