Dear guests, 

many of you often ask us: "How can we make our stay in Trieste unforgettable?" or "What experience do you recommend in order to discover the most fascinating gems and places of this area?"; in this short space you will find a proposal for an unforgettable experience!

The Hotel Città di Parenzo, in collaboration with Outdoorlab, proposes a sailing trip under the Duino cliffs and the nature reserve of the same name, established in 1996 and comprising a high and steep limestone coastline, a portion of the Karst plateau and a strip of sea covering an area of approximately 100 hectares. This fascinating and evocative experience includes an excursion lasting half a day (from about 4 to 9 p.m.) or a full day. At aperitif time, it will be possible to enjoy platters of various cheeses, cold cuts and wines from the Trieste, Friuli and Karst-Ist traditions. 

The guests will be accompanied by the skippers Alberto and Federica, who will tell you anecdotes and curiosities about the “Falesie” (typical cliffs of Trieste territory) and the Gulf of Trieste in general, such as the story of the "Dama Bianca", a young woman in love who was tricked by her husband and thrown off the cliff of Duino Castle. Legend has it that the terror and amazement of the unfortunate girl was eternally imprinted on the white rock that still bears her likeness and that her spirit still hovers in the castle halls.

Once on board, there will also be room for a small 'lesson' on the basics of sailing, such as the names of the various types of sail and the instruments on board. The skippers will explain, for example, the type of boat chosen for the occasion: it is a mahogany schooner, rigged in 1899, owned by Alberto Ieralla and called Roberta III; for a long time it was moored at the San Giusto Marina pier, only to be restored and put back into the sea.
